We are thinking very seriously about relocating to the Tampa/St.Pete/Ybor area. We have taken a couple vacations there over the years, and I used to travel there for work. But we still feel we don't really know the area that well, from the perspective of a local.

We are heading back down there in mid-December to do some serious house/condo hunting. We are drawn to the energy of downtown Tampa, but after a few years of living in suburban Chicago, we are debating if we are up to that pace of life or not.

The Ybor area looks good to us, with all the old architectural charm mixed with the modern clubs and shops. And Channelside.

We also have a fondness for modern, simplified architecture, and haven't ruled out the possibility of a newer single family house… but we don't want to be more than a few minutes away from downtown.

Do you have information or tips to share? Areas we should check out?

I think we are prepared to spend 250-350K, if that helps.
Thanks in advance!

Ybor is adorable but as far as I know, there isn't even a grocery store in town. It's also a party hardy kind of place, and frat boy weekends may not be your kind of thing.
