Planning a trip to Florida for summer vacation?

From what I have been reading on past answers about Cocoa Beach I'm not so excited about visiting there. Obviously the beaches aren't as pretty as the gulf side and supposedly the water is murky. Anyone have any insight as to how Cocoa Beach is and is it worth a 00.00 condo stay for a week at the beach? Please let me know so I don't waste good money on some place that might be a waste of a vacation!

    ….Went to the Coco Beach / Daytona Area once , and after that went back to old faithful , the Emeral Coast.
