The latest projections from NOAA indicate weathered oil from the leading edge of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill could impact the Florida Panhandle as early as this week due to a shift in winds and currents. Florida Gov. Charlie Crist says oil from the massive Gulf spill is now within four miles of the Panhandle coast. Crist said sheen was spotted during a fly over Thursday. That’s down from seven miles Wednesday. Crist said the military should take over the cleanup effort from petroleum giant BP PLC, saying it would make faster decisions. Officials say it’s inevitable that oil will eventually wash up onshore. The spill’s arrival coincides with the beginning of the Panhandle’s summer tourism season, which normally brings millions of dollars to the region. The state is spending millions in advertising to convince travelers to still visit the state and its beaches. See more Florida beaches www.youtube.com Follow me on twitter www.twitter.com

Select clips from a practice air show performed by the Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Team. Filmed 6-4-2003 at Pensacola Naval Air Station, Pensacola Florida, USA at approx. 8:45am CDT. If you get the chance to visit Pensacola Florida during the Summer months go to the Pensacola Naval Air Station on Tue. or Wed. around 8:30am and catch the Blue Angels performing a practice air show when they are in town (almost every week during Summer months). Just go to the gate at the base and tell the MP that you are going to see the Blue Angels and they will give you a base pass and directions to the viewing area. Air show practice usually starts around 8:30 – 8:45am local time.
